This statement reflects the understanding of the highest official in UNICEF concerning the current state of worldwide mineral nutrition. The historic practice of expecting our foods to provide our minerals and trying to treat mineral deficiency by selecting supplementation of specific minerals, can no longer meet our nutritional needs.
